One of the most famous stories about Guru Ram Das is his meeting with Baba Siri Chand, the son of Guru Nanak.
Baba Siri Chand was revered as the greatest yogi of his time, known for his ascetic practices and yogic abilities. He lived in the body of a boy for 134 years and brought all the yoga schools together, founding the Udasi yoga sect.
When they met, Baba Siri Chand asked Guru Ram Das why he had such a long beard. Guru Ram Das fell to his knees and humbly replied, using his beard to wipe the dust off Baba Siri Chand's feet, “This beard is meant to purify the feet of great saints like you.”
At that moment, Baba Siri Chand realized the unparalleled devotion and humility of Guru Ram Das. Although he possessed great yogic abilities, Baba Siri Chand understood why his father, Guru Nanak, did not give him the post of guru. He bowed to Guru Ram Das, and all the yoga schools symbolically bowed with him. Thus making Guru Ram Das Raj the yogi king of yoga.
